Hapjeong Wood-Fired Pizza Spot Spacca Napoli : 3-Hour Wait Review

It had been nearly a decade since I last set foot in Hapjeong.

As certified pizza lovers, my wife and I had been wanting to try Spacca Napoli for ages — it’s known as one of the best wood-fired pizza spots in the area.

We’d heard the wait could be brutal, so we thought we were prepared.

We were not.

The Wait: 3 Hours.

We timed our visit right as the restaurant’s break time ended, but it being a weekend, the wait was still a solid 3 hours.

Rookie mistake on our part — it had been so long since I’d done the “Seoul hotspot” thing that I’d completely forgotten you need to plan ahead for places like this.

We put our name down and headed out to kill time.

Filling the Gap: Cafe, and a Bookstore.

Since we couldn’t just stand around for three hours, we wandered into a nearby café for coffee and a bowl of watermelon bingsu (a Korean shaved ice dessert).

We’d only gone in to escape the heat, but the watermelon turned out to be genuinely sweet and delicious — instant mood boost.

If you find yourself in a similarly long wait, I’d recommend a nearby café, or even the local Kyobo Bookstore.

It’s far too hot for a leisurely stroll, so somewhere with strong air conditioning is the way to go.

The Wine: Skip It.

Quick tip before the food: skip the house wine by the glass.

We tried both the red and the white, and neither impressed us.

If you’re deciding what to drink, I’d go with beer or a soda instead.

The Pizza: Funghi Bianco and Rucola.

We ordered the Funghi Bianco and the Rucola (arugula) pizza — and the pizza itself lived up to the hype.

The wood-fired crust had great texture, and the topping balance on both was well done.

My one complaint : the arugula on the Rucola pizza was noticeably tough and bitter — more than I expected.

I couldn’t tell if that’s just how it’s normally served, or if it was an off batch that day.

I’ll need to order it again alongside a different pizza next time to know for sure.

The Verdict

  • Wait time: 3 hours (long — plan to spend it nearby rather than standing in line).
  • Pizza: Impressive, especially the Funghi Bianco.
  • Wine: Skip it — go for beer or soda instead.
  • Rucola pizza: Great overall, but the arugula’s bitterness and toughness were a letdown.

The wine was a bit of a letdown, but the pizza itself was genuinely great — enough that we’re already planning a return trip to try more of the pizza menu, and maybe some pasta too.
